Question by Patrick D: Release Balloon Experiment – Anyone ever try?
So yesterday I released a heart-shaped balloon (from v-day) from my back yard. I made sure to attach two QR codes: for GPS coordinates and my email address. Has anyone ever tried this? How far should I expect it to go? I wouldn’t be surprised if it went over a state border(esp in a small state like SC), but could it (theoretically) travel over the Atlantic. I’m just curious. Even if you don’t know: any SPECULATION?
You can reply even if you have never tried: I just want to see what other people think.

Your balloon would expand as it gained altitude and put ever increasing pressure on balloon’s skin. At some point…the balloon will burst and whatever was attached to it will float back to earth.
Yesterday the low levels winds over SC were SW…so depending on what part of the state the balloon was release…it traveled toward NC and/or the Atlantic ocean. As it climbed…its path would have turned to the right and taken it toward the coast or further out over the ocean.
